Landscape of Meditation series
Vinyasa - from the Sanskrit nyasa meaning "to place" and the prefix vi- meaning "in a special way" - speaks to contemplative movement. In yoga, vinyasa often refers to a practice linking breath to movement.
The paintings in this series begin in the same way - breathing and grounding, a slow movement on the inhale, a slow movement on the exhale - but with eyes closed and pencil in hand. The resulting drawing captures to experience of mindful breath in peaceful and meandering loops, creating a calm composition that is further developed in watercolor and acrylic paint.
Paintings in this series drop this fall.
